VNG claim denied

Be the first person to recommend this.
Hi all, I'm putting this out on behalf of my billing dept. Codes 92537 and 92540 were denied on a patient tested by another AuD at our practice. The reason says:  "No supported. The submitted medial records to not support that this code was performed. In addition, the medial records submitted are partially legible, therefore we cannot verify the billed services." They submitted the AuD's typed report so I'm not sure what partially legible means. The test was normal. I'm not sure if the diagnosis code was wrong. Are they looking for the notes of the M.D. who ordered the test? Has anyone else come across this?  Thanks in advance.

Hello all My ENT practice is looking for a used VNG system to add to our practice. Our former system suffered a fatal error and can't be revived. Unfortunately our capital expense budget closed earlier this year so I won't be purchasing a new system any time soon. Please message me if you have a VNG system that you need to offload. Thank you, Sabrina Olivia, AuD Capital Otolaryngology Austin, TX www.capoto.co

I bought used equipment just over a year ago believing I would be able to expand my services. I have since realized I do not have the time to grow that part of my practice. If you are interested please email me. earsjared@gmail.com I am asking $5500 for the ENG system (WSR system) with the Neurocom platform, and $3500 for the OAE (DPOAE 2000 system).

I have been trying to figure out the best way to share some knowledge and experience with my fellow audiologists and it finally occurred to me to post a blog on this site. Don't ask me why I didn't think of this sooner, but thanks to a recent post by a good friend and colleague, I thought this would be the best way to impart some of what I have learned being on the clinical equipment distribution side of audiology. Here is what I want to say to everyone who reads this: DO NOT GO OUT AND GET A NEW COMPUTER WITHOUT ASKING YOUR EQUIPMENT PEOPLE FIRST!! There are a multitude of reasons why I say this. First and foremost, a new computer from the manufacturer ...

HI Healthcare

Never being an activist before, does anyone think that if we united together, even in local geographical regions, we could somehow have some power over this? Does it sound impossible that the local Audiologists could join together and essentially be be willing to 'boycott' UHC unless they remove the hearing aid policy? If our AAA isn't in the position to do this, maybe regions, or states can? Any thoughts? Am I way off base? Aren't WE the providers and shouldn't WE have some type of hand to play? Looking forward to hearing your replies.

AAA has and advocacy program that is on the right road but no finish line has been put down. ADA has a comprehensive program that has a clear starting point and a clear finish line. As an audiologist what do I do? DEMAND SOLIDARITY!!!!!!! Quit fighting each other, quit picking on dispensers and put your money where your complaining mouth is.....WE, as audiologists have spent too many years complaining and very little time doing anything about it..... 1. Go to www.18X18.org and learn about ADA's comprehensive plan for the future of audiology 2. Go to http://www.18x18.org/congressional-connect and send a letter to your congressional ...

TV Loop

If individuals have poor enough hearing that the sound bar is insufficient, just loop the waiting room. Then, they are prompted to turn on their telecoil as they enter and still can hear when someone summons them. Plus, the telecoil allows customized sound rather than generic sound and there are no hygienic concerns. All hearing aids should have telecoils with options of Telecoil/Loop for when they only want to hear the sound source, and Telecoil/Microphone when they want to hear in the environment as well. The telecoil empowers them.

The Programme for the Prevention of Deafness and Hearing Impairment (PDH) at the World Health Organization (WHO) is in jeopardy of being abolished if sufficient funds are not secured by October 1, 2013. The PDH plays a critical role in raising awareness of the global burden of hearing loss and supporting nations to incorporate hearing health into their national health plans. In many developing countries, much of the permanent hearing loss is preventable. Preventable causes of permanent hearing loss include but are not limited to chronic otitis media, ototoxic medications (often available OTC), noise, measles, mumps, and rubella. It is easy to see from this list ...

Me: "So, what brings you here today" Patient: "My wife." (at which point his wife promptly but playfully slaps him) Me: "How's your hearing?" Patient: "I don't know, they haven't set a trial date yet." Me performing otoscopy while the patient's spouse sits on the other side Patient: "Hey doc, you look like a nice fellow, but I don't want you eying the missus with that scope." Patient's spouse: "Oh hush you, you have got too much hair in there for him to get a clean look anyway" (technically true...) Me: "Is there anything you have avoided doing because of your hearing loss?" Patient (whispers conspiratory): "Oh, ...

"A sound life involves oscillating through ups and downs, finding that which resonates with your existence, accomplishing something that will reverberate in generations to come. Do not be afraid of coming across intense. Be always ready and willing to pitch in, because the truth is, life is the melody and you are the lyricist." There are many compelling reasons that propelled me into the field of audiology. Some border on the theological, and some along the practical. Yet, perhaps the one that appeals to me the most is the knowledge that I am in a vocation that will help people hear music. Yes, audiology as a field has not been very focused ...

Balancing Act

Be the first person to recommend this.
Some of the most difficult patients that an audiologist will ever encounter are those who presents with dizziness problems. "Dizziness" is a very generic term, but at the core of it is that a very fundamental faculty critical to survival is completely askew. In other words, and no pun intended, these patients are quite imbalanced in all sense of the word as they no longer have a reference point. One can therefore only imagine the emotional and physiological burden that these patients carry with them when they walk through the door. To further exacerbate the problem, much of what the patients would read regarding the diagnostic tests involved are ...

“The revolution remains incomplete; my fellow comrades, you must continue to work hard towards that end.” - parting words by Dr. Sun Yat-sen There is no denying that the field of audiology has grown in leaps and bounds since its inception following the Second World War. Our greatest achievement yet, besides the numerous advancements we have seen in the field of hearing aids, is moving from a master level degree to a doctoral degree. Now we are in the midst of attaining Limited License Physician Status, Direct Access and Expanded Audiology Benefits under Medicare While this is all good, I must ask of the field to pause and ...
